Thanksgiving Assignment
Over Thanksgiving I talked to my mom about what technology is most important to her. She said obviously her phone is the most important because she’s constantly coordinating rides and carpools for my little sister, who is a freshman in high school and playing high school sports. While she said she is the most reliant on her phone though, she said she cherishes her camera the most. Her phone is the most necessary but she likes her camera to document the memories we make as a family. She isn’t huge fan of how technologically dependent our society is and is constantly yelling at my sister to get off her phone when they’re having a conversation. She also said that outside her personal life at work, her work phone is the most important. She is a respiratory therapist at St. Paul Children’s Hospital and the phone is used to page her whenever she’s needed in an emergency. She said when she started working they all had pagers but have now moved up to having their own blackberries for while they’re at work that can be used to communicate between the doctors and nurses.

I'm glad that your mom's hospital has upgraded to smartphones, they are so versatile, since my family doctor still has and uses a pager.
It is interesting to read through your mom's experience with all the different technologies. I think everything comes with cons and pros. With higher technologies there are definitely easier connection with each other and to the internet but it will definitely be another distraction from regular social interaction.
